Greenbrier Episcopal Ministries and the Greenbrier County Humane Society are sponsoring a Blessing of the Animals on Monday, October 11 at 6 pm at St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Main Street in White Sulphur Springs.
This annual event, canceled last year due to Covid-19, will be held to honor St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. It is traditional in the Episcopal Church to hold pet blessings around the feast day of this venerable saint to commemorate Francis’ love for all of God’s creatures.
The service will be held outdoors on the church lawn and each pet will be blessed by the Rev. Elizabeth (Betsy) Walker, Missioner of Greenbrier Episcopal Ministries. Please bring your pets on a leash and mask-wearing is preferred, even though this is an outdoors event.
Greenbrier Episcopal Ministries includes the Church of the Incarnation in Ronceverte and St. Thomas, White Sulphur Springs. Everyone, two-and four-legged, is welcome!
