Loaves & Fishes Outreach Center, part of Catholic Charities West Virginia, located in Hinton is holding a coat giveaway. This program is to help ensure no one goes cold this winter due to the absence of a coat. The giveaway will begin on Monday, Oct. 11, and will continue throughout the remainder of the month.
According to Outreach Coordinator Kevin Richmond, no information will be required to take part in the giveaway. If someone needs a coat, all they have to do is go to the Loaves & Fishes Outreach Center located at 207 Temple Street during their normal hours of operation and let someone know they are there for the giveaway. They will then be able to find a coat in an appropriate size. Each coat taken will be tallied off, and that is all there is to it.
Richmond also said there are quite a few coats available in a wide variety of sizes. He said, “We have plenty of coats in various sizes so I’m sure there should be something for everybody.” Most of the garments are gently used, but Richmond said some are brand new. All of the coats have been gathered through various sources and donations.
This program is another way the organization is helping the community beyond its regular programs. Richmond said, “As the colder months come, we obviously run a thrift store too and we just feel that it is a good way to give back to the community.” He continued saying, “We want to make sure everyone has at least one coat they can rely on for the winter.”
The Loaves & Fishes Thrift Store is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Utility assistance is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Tuesday and Thursday by appointment only. A food pantry is available on Fridays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
