FAIRLEA- Stone Temple Pilots, one of the defining rock bands of the 1990s, will bring more than three decades of chart-topping music to the State Fair of West Virginia on Saturday, Aug. 22, when the band takes the fair stage for an 8:00 PM concert.

Formed in San Diego in 1989, the group quickly rose to prominence with its 1992 debut album, Core, which featured hit singles such as “Plush,” “Creep,” “Sex Type Thing,” and “Wicked Garden.” The band’s follow-up album, Purple, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 1994 and produced fan favorites including “Interstate Love Song,” “Vasoline,” and “Big Empty.”

Throughout their career, Stone Temple Pilots have sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, earned a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance for “Plush,” and established themselves as one of the most successful and influential rock bands of their era.

While the group experienced lineup changes over the years—including the loss of original frontman Scott Weiland in 2015—they have continued performing and recording with current lead vocalist Jeff Gutt, alongside founding members Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz. Their music remains a staple of rock radio, with timeless hits such as “Interstate Love Song,” “Plush,” “Big Bang Baby,” “Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart,” and “Lady Picture Show” continuing to resonate with longtime fans and new listeners alike.

Stone Temple Pilots will perform at the State Fair of West Virginia on Saturday, Aug. 22, with special guest Velvet Chains. The concert begins at 8:00 PM, adding another nationally recognized act to this year’s fair entertainment lineup and giving area rock fans the opportunity to experience one of the genre’s most enduring bands live in Lewisburg/Fairlea.

Brandon’s Stone Temple Pilots Favorites:

I owned their CD, No.4, in high school and listened to it constantly. Down, Sour Girl, Church on Tuesday, No Way Out, Sex & Violence, and I Got You were very good off of that one. They were a pretty big-name band back in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Having them at the State Fair is a privilege.
