Bridgeport, W.Va. (WVDN) – Governor Patrick Morrisey joined airport officials, local leaders, and community members in Bridgeport to celebrate the grand opening of the new passenger terminal at North Central West Virginia Airport (CKB).
“This new terminal is a gateway for travelers and a launchpad for economic opportunity across the region,” said Governor Morrisey. “By pairing world-class infrastructure with lower taxes and a pro-growth business climate, we are making West Virginia the best place to live, work, and build a business. Today’s ribbon-cutting is another sign that our state is moving forward and building for the future.”
The new terminal represents a major infrastructure investment that will provide a modern front door for the region, expand opportunities for commercial air service, and support continued economic growth.
The Morrisey administration also stepped up earlier this year with nearly $2 million from the Governor’s Civil Contingent Fund to help complete the $5 million taxiway project connecting the main runway directly to the new terminal.
“Infrastructure like this opens new doors for communities across West Virginia,” said Governor Morrisey. “This terminal connects the region to more visitors and more businesses, while making it easier for West Virginians to connect with the rest of the country. This is how we build lasting growth that reaches every corner of our state.”
The opening comes as West Virginia continues to build significant economic momentum. Since October, the Morrisey administration has announced more than $15 billion in private-sector investments expected to create more than 15,000 jobs statewide.
That growth has been paired with historic tax relief. Earlier this year, Governor Morrisey signed legislation providing more than $230 million in annual tax relief, including a 5 percent across-the-board personal income tax reduction and targeted relief for working families and growing businesses.
