WASHINGTON, DC (WVDN) – Senator Jim Justice celebrated Dominion Energy’s announcement of their plan to construct a new natural gas power plant at Mt. Storm that will run alongside the existing coal plant.

Under the Trump administration’s America First energy vision, we aren’t just participating in the national energy renaissance—we’re driving it. This project brings thousands of high-paying jobs and bolsters our grid with reliable, affordable power. We are proving once again that when America needs power, West Virginia delivers,” said Senator Jim Justice.
BACKGROUND:
This historic investment will:
- Add 1,400+ construction jobs and 2,490 jobs total statewide.
- Bring in around $259 million annually in local economic output for Grant and Tucker counties.
- $400 million in statewide economic activity during construction
- Create nearly 150 jobs once the plant is operational.
- Generate around $950 million in tax revenue for Grant County over the first 36 years of operation.
