BURTON
Edward James “Jim” Burton, 66, of Marlinton passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born October 6, 1954 in Sedalia, MO, he was a son of the late Wally and Veta Couger Ward. Jim was also preceded in death by his wife, Laretha Sue Bowien Burton; great-grandson, Dominic Trotter; and a brother, Mike Burton.
Jim was a 101st Airborne Specialist, Equipment Operator, retired from the Forest Service, owner/operator of Burtons Laundromat, Burton Enterprises, and Burtons Bargains Thrift Store.
Jim is survived by two sons, James Burton of Columbus, IN, and David Burton of Champaign, IL; three step-daughters, Shelia Miller of Clarksville, WV, Charlene Farrington, and Rebecca Smith both of Meridian, MS; eleven grandchildren; two sisters, Nola Gregg of Warsaw, MO, and JoAnn Mudry of Lee Summit, MO.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Lantz Funeral Home in Buckeye with Pastor Timothy Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery with military honors by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corp.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
