FORT SPRING W.Va. (WVDN) – The April meeting of the Fort Spring CEOS was held at Food and Friends. Members attending were Carol Sue Miller, Gail Lambert, Jackie Stuart, Rebecca Fullen, Barbara Hunter, Mary Fullen, and Becky Longanacre. President Carol Sue Miller opened the meeting and had a devotional. Secretary, Rebecca Fullen, dispensed with the March minutes. The members voted to donate money to Camp Joy in Virginia, which Rebecca Fullen will attend during the summer. It was also decided to donate money to send a child to the county 4-H camp.

Mary Fullen had the lesson on “Echoes of the Past.” She displayed a McClung genealogy book, which she had compiled. It goes back 10 generations. It was presented to Becky Longanacre, whose husband, John, was a McClung descendant. Mary also compiled 3 other genealogy books on the Burdette, Hunter, and Campbell families, of which she is descended. The books also contain dedications to family members, biblical referrals, family crests, very detailed dates, birth certificates, family origins, obituaries, and many pictures.

Later in life, the youth of today will appreciate and treasure the efforts of the ones who wrote about our lives, kept records of dates, and took detailed notes on families and happenings.

Their next meeting will be in May.
