West Virginia Natural Resources Commission to meet April 30

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN)— The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) today reminded the public that the next quarterly meeting of the Natural Resources Commission will be Thursday, April 30, at 6 p.m.

The meeting will be held simultaneously in each of the WVDNR’s six districts, where the local commissioner and WVDNR staff will be present to gather public input. For those unable to attend in person, a view-only livestream will be available at youtube.com/@WVcommerce/streams.Those who want to address the commission must attend one of the following in-person locations:

  • District 1 – 1110 Railroad St, Farmington, WV 26571
  • District 2 – 1 Depot Street, Romney, WV 26757
  • Elkins Operation Center in District 3 – 738 Ward Road, Elkins, WV 26241
  • District 4 – 2006 Robert C Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV 25801
  • WVDNR Headquarters in District 5 – 112 California Avenue, Charleston, WV 25305
  • District 6 – 76 Conservation Way, Parkersburg, WV 26104
The agenda includes the following items:
  1. Introductions
  2. Review, correct and approve the minutes of the March 12, 2026 meeting of the Natural Resources Commission
  3. Public comments
  4. Summary of the 2026 Sectional Meetings – Sportsmen and Landowners Questionnaire  
  5. Review and approve by vote the 2026-2027 Big Game Hunting Regulations
    Black Bear Hunting Regulations
    Antlerless White-tailed Deer Hunting Regulations
    All other Big Game Hunting Regulations
  6. Review and approve by vote the 2026 State Park Deer Hunts
  7. Review proposed 2027-2028 Hunting and Trapping Regulations
  8. Review proposed 2027 Fishing Regulations
  9. Update on chronic wasting disease in West Virginia Deer
  10. West Virginia Wildlife Federation presentation
  11. Discussion of the 2026 third quarterly meeting of the Natural Resources Commission
    Commissioner recommendations for next meeting agenda
    Tentative dates and locations for next meeting
  12. Adjourn
The NRC serves as an advisory body to the WVDNR on issues related to conserving the state’s natural resources and protecting fish and game species, which includes establishing hunting and fishing regulations, season dates and limits.
