CHARMCO- The Greenbrier West Cavaliers picked up victory number one this season after a solid 6-1 victory over the Montcalm Generals.

The Greenbrier West pitchers-Landen Doss, Scott McClung, Brenton Hodge, and Landon McClung–combined on a 2-hit shutout and struck out a total of 17 batters.

After two scoreless innings to open things up, the Cavaliers got their offense going in the third frame. Following two quick outs, Kameron Parker reached on an error and then Hayden Holliday singled. The next batter, La. McClung, cleared the bases with a 3-run homerun to give Greenbrier West a 3-0 lead.

Then, in the fifth, Sc. McClung laced a double to left field that brought Holliday and La. McClung home to score. After that, the Cavs led 5-0.

Greenbrier West got another run later and in the seventh, Montcalm finally got on the board, but West’s dominant pitching performance was never threatened.

West moves to 1-2 on the very young season.

They are scheduled to host Midland Trail on Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM.
