LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – On Saturday, March 28, Greenbrier Valley Indivisible and the Greenbrier County Democratic Women’s Club are hosting a community rally from noon to 2 p.m. at the Greenspace in downtown Lewisburg. The event is the third No Kings Rally and will be one of 3000 events planned nationwide. The rally will conclude with a march up and down Washington Street.

Organizers said, “When our families are under attack, and costs are pushing people to the brink, silence is not an option. We are coming together peacefully to protest this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence. America does not belong to strongmen, greedy billionaires, or those who rule through fear. It belongs to us, the people.”

The guest speaker will be Amy Jo Hutchinson of Wheeling. Hutchinson is a community organizer and economic justice advocate who is part of the Moms Rising Together team as campaign director for West Virginia: https://momsrising.org. Hutchinson is a dynamic speaker who will bring a fresh perspective on today’s fight for the people.

“This peaceful gathering will serve as both a reminder and a celebration that our freedoms were secured through generations of civic engagement, and that they remain strongest when we practice them together. At the end of the day, we’re all neighbors, no matter how much we may disagree, and events like this are about building community as much as they are about raising our voices,” organizers stated. “We invite interested people to join us for music, camaraderie and encouragement. You can sign up at https://www.nokings.org.”

In addition to the rally, monetary donations for the local food banks will be collected.
