GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – As winter nears its end and the spring thaw fights to break through, the Patriots Motorcycle Club is gearing up for a new year with hopes of a great riding season. The group recently announced the prize list for their winter raffle, which will support their “Riding to Give” fundraising efforts.
Tickets are now on sale, of which only 200 will be made available, at a cost of $100 each. The prize list was announced on Facebook and consists of guns, a thermal scope, a crossbow, and a safe.
“We will draw the names live online, and we will draw them in the order they are listed,” says Brian Redden, fundraiser organizer. “For example, the first name drawn gets the first prize and so on.”
Each winner will have the option to either accept their prize or $500.00 in cash.
“There are possible age restrictions for some of the prizes, but not the cash option,” says Redden.
Drawings will be live-streamed on the Patriots Motorcycle Club Facebook page on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
“All of our prizes come from Park Center Sporting Goods in Rainelle,” Redden adds. “Brent helps us choose the prizes; they help us out tremendously in the selection process.”
Ask any member, and each will have their own story on what inspired them to join, how being a part of the group has changed their life, and what it means to make such a difference in the lives of others.
“Being a Patriot has changed my life,” Redden said. “I joined the club after my daughter received a college scholarship from them, so joining was my way of giving back. It’s been tremendous being able to help younger kids get through college and push them to further their education. Plus, I like to ride motorcycles,” he adds with a smile.
In addition to their annual Christmas fundraiser, the Patriots Motorcycle Club awards college scholarships to local high school students from Greenbrier West, Greenbrier East and James Monroe. Proceeds from fundraising events throughout the year support their ‘Ride to Give’ motto. Barry Crance, one of the group’s original 8 founding members, recently shared his feelings on how being part of the club has changed his life.
“Riding to Give is more than our motto,” Crance said. “In a large way, it’s what we’re all about. It’s truly an honor to be a member of the Patriots Motorcycle Club and serve our area with awesome, like-minded folks in a very supportive, generous and caring community. You get to experience a camaraderie with other great and diverse folks in the club,” he adds. “It’s rewarding, humbling and feels good to serve. Again, to mention such a wonderful, giving and supportive community, without which we could never achieve the help that makes up the biggest part of the goals in our club.”
In addition to fundraising efforts, the Patriots Motorcycle Club hosts several scenic rides throughout the year. These events are open to the public and typically include not just motorcycles, but cars and trucks as well. Perhaps it’s the love of riding that brings people together, but it’s their giving hearts that create a lasting bond. If you ask any member what they like best about the motorcycle club, you will likely get a heartfelt response that expresses their desire to help the community, the people in it and enjoy a great ride in the process.
