WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV (WVDN) – West Virginia found a way on Friday night — even with the odds stacked against them.
Playing in front of a sold-out Colonial Hall crowd at the Skechers Greenbrier Tip-Off, the Mountaineers rallied past No. 15 Duke for a 57–49 victory, using a gritty second-half surge to close out one of the program’s most memorable early-season wins.
Despite being down to just five available players after halftime, West Virginia controlled the final two quarters, outscoring the Blue Devils 37–26 while turning a tight game into a statement finish. Sydney Shaw anchored the effort, pacing the Mountaineers with 16 points and seven rebounds as WVU leaned on toughness, tempo, and timely shooting to pull away.
