CHARLESTON W.Va. (WVDN) – The Alderson Elementary Archery Team traveled to the WVDNR NASP Bullseye tournament in Charleston today. The team placed second. Additionally, the archers shot their best team tournament score today and had a few archers place as individuals.

The individual scores were:

William Lightner (5th grade): Third place for elementary boys and shot two 50s in the tournament- each a perfect scoring round.

Jenna Baldwin (4th grade): Third place for elementary girls.

Regan Honaker (5th grade): Fifth place for elementary female.

Kinley Honaker (7th grade) Eighth place for middle school female.

The team isn’t ready to hang their bows up yet… now it is on to nationals in Kentucky!

Coach Andrea Sloan said, “The Alderson archery team wouldn’t be what it is without the support of the parents and the community. The parents are great about getting the archers to and from practices and tournaments and showing up for everything in between. We have incredible support from the community as well. They rally behind these kids and do so much to help them raise funds for tournaments and equipment. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to make this team happen, and it truly takes a village and teamwork. Our archers, coaches, parents and the community are what make this team.”

Coach Matt Tabor said, “The kids have dedicated their time since September, practicing three days a week. We hope to continue the momentum and build on our runner-up finish at NASP Eastern Nationals from a year ago. We would like to thank the Greenbrier Valley Sportsman’s Alliance and the town of Alderson for their support on our journey back to worlds in June as well.”

 Congratulations, Alderson Elementary Archery Team.
