The Eastern Greenbrier Lady Knights have started their season with an impressive 5-0 record. The Knights went on the road for their first two games of the season.
On Tuesday, March 9, the Knights defeated the Summers County Middle School Bobcats 33 to 21.
Kennedy Stewart was the leader of EGMS’s offense with 16 points, including seven during the first period. She also contributed two rebounds, one steal and one block. Also helping the effort for EGMS were Mackenna McClure (8 points, 9 rebounds, 1 block), Caroline Dotson (5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals), Ryan White (2 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block) and Ella Lewis (2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals).
EGMS finished the game with 44 rebounds (25 offensive/19 defensive), four blocks and 17 steals.
The Knights would travel to Pikeview Middle School on Monday, March 15, to take on the Pikeview Panthers.
Dotson led the charge for EGMS’s offense, scoring nine points, with seven points during the fourth period of a 46 to 30 Knights victory. She also contributed three rebounds and two steals.The Knights outscored the Panthers 18 to 3 in the 4th Quarter to seal the victory. Kennedy Stewart sank three three-pointers and scored nine points total.
Also scoring for EGMS were Mackenna McClure (8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals), Jenna Groves (6 points, 6 rebounds), Ryan White (5 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals), Hannah Fuller (4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block), Ella Lewis (3 points, 1 rebound) and Shyanne Thomas (2 points, 1 rebound).
EGMS finished the game with 36 rebounds (21 offensive/15 defensive), one block and nine steals.
The Knights would finally play a home game as they defeated the Summersville Bears 32-19 on Wednesday, March 17.
Kennedy Stewart led the offense with 13 points (3 threes). Also chipping in for EGMS were Caroline Dotson (9 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal), Hannah Fuller (4 points, 1 rebound), Mackenna McClure (3 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals) and Ella Lewis (2 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block). Ryan White was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up 15 rebounds and two steals.
EGMS finished the game with 46 rebounds (26 offensive/20 defensive), one block and seven steals.
The Knights’ fourth victory of the season came this past Monday as they defeated the visiting Peterstown Pirates 46-15. With a 19-point first quarter, EGMS Knights pulled ahead early on the strength of a 19-2 run, eventually claiming a 31-10 lead by halftime.
Ella Lewis led the Knights with 10 points. Kennedy Stewart sank two three-pointers and scored eight points total. Also helping the effort for EGMS were Ryan White (7 points, 6 rebounds, 7 steals), Mackenna McClure (7 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals), Hannah Fuller (5 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks), Caroline Dotson (3 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals) and Ava Workman (2 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals).
EGMS finished the game with 37 rebounds (21 offensive/16 defensive), two blocks and 21 steals.
The Knights’ fifth victory of the season was a hard-fought 41-23 victory over the visiting Princeton Tigers.
Sinking 70% (7-for-10) of shots and scoring 14 points to go along with 14 rebounds and 4 steals, Ryan White had a dominant performance for EGMS.
