CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today announced her committee assignments for the 119th Congress. Senator Capito will continue serving on four U.S. Senate committees: the Committee on Appropriations; the Committee on Environment and Public Works, where she will now serve as Chairman; the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; and the Committee on Rules and Administration.

“I am excited to continue serving on these four committees, which will position me well to advance policies and priorities important to West Virginians. Through these committee assignments, I have been able to author and pass legislation that helps set West Virginia up for success through energy policy reforms, broadband deployment, fighting the scourge of opioids, and everything in between. Additionally, through my role on the Appropriations Committee, I have personally secured significant funding in Congressionally Directed Spending for specific programs and projects throughout our state that have made a meaningful impact. As we begin this new Congress with Republican majorities in both the Senate and House and as President Trump returns to the White House, I look forward to working with my colleagues to deliver on the solutions Americans voted for in this last election so we can get our country back on track,” Senator Capito said.

In addition to her Senate Committee assignments, Senator Capito will serve as Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee, the fourth-highest ranking position in Senate GOP Leadership.
