BECKLEY W.Va. (WVDN) – New River Community and Technical College has announced the cancellation of games for Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in the New River CTC Invitational. The decision comes after careful consideration of weather-related safety concerns and the need to prioritize the well-being of all participants.
“We understand the importance of competitive play, but the safety of our players, coaches, and spectators is always our top priority,” said Michael Green, Chief of Staff/Vice President of External Affairs, Executive Director of the College Foundation, and Tournament Director at New River CTC. “In light of the current weather conditions, and considering the teams have been unable to practice since last week, we believe the cancellation of Wednesday’s games will allow teams some time to better prepare for the remainder of the Invitational and the rest of their season.”
The games scheduled for Thursday, January 9, 2025, will be played as originally scheduled.
