The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports that, for the second time this week, there have been no deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the state within the last 24-hours. As of Thursday, March 4, the total number of deaths in West Virginia as a result of complications of the virus remains 2,309.
With the addition of the 261-new cases identified on Wednesday, March 3, the current active case-count is 6,318.
The daily positivity-rate is 2.69%$ and the cumulative positivity-rate is 5.42%. Thus far, 202,401 West Virginians have been fully vaccinated against the virus, while another 307,532 are awaiting their second dose.
With an infection rate of 14.72% and a percent positive of 4.52%, Pocahontas has been downgraded to the gold designation on the DHHR’s daily color-coded County Alert Map System. Greenbrier and Monroe Counties both remain designated as green.
At present, 193 West Virginians are hospitalized with COVID-19, including the 57 who are receiving treatment in area intensive care units and 22 who are being assisted through ventilators. W.Va. DHHR reports that 124,050 residents who had previously tested positive for the virus have now recovered.
