GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – The Greenbrier Artists have been meeting as a group for 50 years in 2024. They started with just a few friends meeting in each other’s homes to paint and learn more about art and encourage each other. They held exhibits in the local college, in nursing homes, in the Beckley newspaper office, and sometimes outdoors on Lewisburg streets.
Many years later as Carnegie Hall was renovated, the Director invited the artists to exhibit at Carnegie, and space eventually became available in Kellar Studio for the group to paint there. They now meet each Thursday morning at Carnegie and invite more artists to join them.
On Oct. 4, please join the artists for the opening of their 50th Anniversary Show with a cake reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Greenbrier Convention and Visitors Center on Washington Street. The exhibit runs through Oct. 30.
Greenbrier Artists is a non-profit group with approximately 90 members. They are committed to promoting education and local art in the community. They do short demos, field trips, annual workshops and exhibits in several local venues. Come celebrate 50 years of local art!
