Basil Lee Weikle, age 72, of Talcott, WV, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019, at his residence following a long illness.
Born on September 21, 1946, in Sarton, WV, he was the son of the late John Alexander and Ethel Morgan Weikle.
Basil had worked hard all his life in several jobs and positions such as the Department of Highways, dairy farming, construction, and timber, just to name a few. He loved his family and being in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he always enjoyed a good deer hunt. Basil also loved his church family and was a member of the Mt. Alexander Church in Sarton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Bobbie R. Weikle of Talcott; two sons, Jack L. Weikle (Karen) of Barger Springs, WV, and Barger Alexander Weikle (Edna) of Glace, WV; two daughters, Catherine Wheeler of Greensburg, PA, and Sarah Megargee of Berkley Springs, WV; four grandsons, Matthew Adkins, Jack Weikle Jr., Rusty Weikle, and Jerry “J.C.” Wheeler; six granddaughters, Kayla Grimmett, Katelyn Adkins, Jessica Weikle, Raechel Megargee, Holly Weikle, and Augustine Weikle; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ralston (Bob) of Fairlea, WV, Violet Allen of Union, WV, and Diane Huggins of Charleston, WV; one brother, Donald Weikle of Flat Mountain, WV; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at the Mt. Alexander Church in Sarton, with the Rev. Terry Utterback officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Alexander Church Cemetery in Sarton. Friends may call Sunday, June 9, 2019, from 2 p.m. until the time of the services at the church.
