Donald Ray “Chief” Crump, 84, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at the Genesis HealthCare Center in White Sulphur Springs.
Donald was born on September 1, 1934, to James A. Crump Jr. and Inez Saunders in Greenbrier County, WV.
Donald was a graduate of Bolling High School in Lewisburg, WV. He was employed by The Greenbrier hotel in the Golf and Tennis Club, and retired after 55 years of service.
Donald was a loyal member of the First Baptist Church of White Sulphur Springs, where he served as a deacon and as a member of the choir. He was an avid reader and enjoyed various styles of music. Donald was kind, humble, generous, and wise.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce; son, Don (Joe); his daughter, Tina; and brothers, James S., Louis Lee (Joe), and Louie Reese.
Donald leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters, Donna Joyce of Westerville, OH, Monica Mitchell (David) of Silver Spring, MD, and Sabrina of White Sulphur Springs; daughter-in-law, Linda of Lewisburg; sister, Barbara Jean Johnson of White Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Damien (Maggie) of Lexington, KY, Chris Spisak (Rosanne) of Lockhart, TX, Camala Perry (Dwan) of Lexington, and Janaska Bigley of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donald’s homegoing of services will be on Monday, April 22, 2019, at the First Baptist Church of White Sulphur Springs. Family and friends may visit from noon until 1p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Greg Scott. Interment will follow at the Greenhill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Donald’s memory be made to The First Baptist Church of White Sulphur Springs, 157 Church Street, PO Box 395, White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986.
Donald will be truly missed by family and friends.
