Robert “Bobby” Paul Childers, 85, of Little Creek Road in Alvon, WV, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019, at his residence.
Born in Alvon on April 9, 1934, he was a son of George Summers and Eva Coulter Childers.
He was a lifetime resident of the Little Creek area and a member of the Little Creek Presbyterian Church. He was longtime caretaker of the church and the cemetery. Bobby loved farming and gardening, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all his siblings: six brothers; Johnny, Lonnie, Orville, Clarence, George (Carson) and Charles; and his four sisters, Odesa McClung, Mattie Ramsey, Okell Childers, and Violet Childers. He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews; a host of extended family members and neighbors; and his special friends Stoney and Violet Ramsey, Robert Cox, and Neil Hollandsworth.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at the Little Creek Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ben Gurley officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
