A West Virginia Daily News reader recently shared an old article about a little known gem with roots in an unlikely place – Monroe County – found in an unlikely way – during a lawn game played by the unlikely founder – young “Punch” Jones.
That gem is a blue-white diamond, weighing 34.46 carats, measuring 5/8 inch in diamter and is one of a few diamonds found in the United States.
