Every Spartan fan in the building was nervous – from Greenbrier East and Eastern Greenbrier Middle School students and faculty, who crammed multiple busses for the trip to the state capitol, to parents and casual fans – there was not a calm person in the arena.
However, when the clock hit zeroes, all those people breathed a huge sigh of relief as the 2nd seeded Greenbrier East Lady Spartans defeated the 7th seeded Huntington Highlanders 54-50, in the first round of the state tournament at the Charleston Civic Center on Wednesday, March 6.
