WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – There’s something about White Sulphur Springs that calls to people from all walks of life. In her walk, Melanie Cox graduated from beauty school in 1990. In those 34 years, she has been in a few spots in old town White Sulphur Springs, as well as in Georgia and Virginia but this month celebrates 21 years in business in the mid-century-modern style brick house next to Gillespie’s warehouse. The house was built in 1920 by former Mayor Tobe Cabell. Cox always has a coat rack outside, offering free coats to anyone who needs one. In addition, in her 21 years of service to her community, she has made lifelong, lasting relationships with many White Sulphur residents. You come to count on your hairdresser for a quality cut, color or style, but Cox is much more than a hairdresser to so many. Styles & Profiles is a cornerstone business leading the way for the city that never quits.

Cox said “I’m in disbelief at the years that roll by. I laugh when I realize it’s been 34 years since I graduated and here I am, 21 years later, [still moving along]. I moved back to White Sulphur Springs 25 years ago and have had this shop for 21. We are busy working on a new porch in the back, where the old Florida room has been in disrepair. We survived the house that burned down several years ago, next door. If it hadn’t been for the new windows we installed prior to the fire, our house would have burnt, too. [For that, I am grateful].”

Cox would like to offer her clients, new and old, 20% off any color service, now until the close of business, July 4, in celebration of her anniversary. Styles & Profiles offers cuts to any including child cuts, coloring, permanent waves, and more. Stop in to say hi or to celebrate Cox on her endeavors, her dedication and devotedness. A lot has happened in the last 21 years, especially in White Sulphur Springs but giving quality services year after year is commendable. Congratulations Melanie!

Styles & Profiles Salon is located at 427 Main Street, N., White Sulphur Springs.

The business hours are Monday 1-5 p.m.: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturday is by appointment only, usually reserved for special occasions such as weddings, prom night or consultations.

You may call the salon at 304-536-5113, visit her webpage at @thebeautyshopgirl.com or on Facebook and Instagram at @styles&profiles.
