ALLEGHANY COUNTY VA (WVDN) – On May 24, Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were conducting night checks near Humpback Bridge and noticed an unattended vehicle in the parking lot.

A check of the vehicle’s registration revealed that the vehicle was registered to Christopher Lee Williamson.

Additionally, the check revealed that Williamson had three outstanding warrants from Prince William County for Aggravated Sexual Battery. Deputies searched the area and were assisted by K-9 units as well as drone technology from the Virginia State Police, but were unsuccessful.

On the afternoon of May 25, Sheriff’s Office dispatch was notified that a body had been found in the water on Dunlap Creek south of Humpback Bridge. Deputies responded along with fire & rescue personnel and recovered the body. Investigators were able to identify the deceased as Mr. Williamson. This incident is still considered an active investigation pending the results of the State Medical Examiners Office.

Sheriff’s Office personnel were assisted by the Virginia State Police and Dunlap Creek Fire and EMS.
