FAIRLEA W.Va. (WVDN) – According to reports, an officer-involved shooting occurred around 4 p.m. on Monday, May 6 at the West Virginia State Fair Grounds. The incident reportedly occurred following police being called due to a man with a weapon.

After arriving on scene, officers located Justin Denver Grant with a weapon. Officers reportedly asked Grant to put down the weapon which allegedly refused to do, even after being tased. The situation continued to escalate to the point officers fired their guns which resulted in Grant being shot.

Reports also indicate that Grant was pronounced dead after being taken to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. Neither of the officers present were injured.

The West Virginia State Police are investigating the incident.
