LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – Nineteen golf teams outnumbered the cups at the Lewisburg Lions Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 4. Two teams doubled up, taking turns at the holes, and everyone enjoyed a great game. A cookout, golf package prizes for the winners and lots of door prizes rounded out the day.
Joe Taylor, Lions Club president, expressed thanks to all those who made the day a success. This included the 19 teams, the Lewisburg Elks Club, 63 hole sponsors, 4 local grocery stores, and all the club members who worked on the tournament.
The club donates funds from the annual golf tournament to many non-profit agencies in the county and pays for eye exams and eyeglasses for those who cannot afford them.
Looking forward to next year’s golf tournament, one of the golfers said, “Last year we froze on a very cold day; this year we had enough rain to get wet. It’s got to be sunny and warm next time!” Cold, rainy, or sunny, the club will welcome golfers next year in early May to the charity tournament.
