Raymond Basil Snider
Surrounded by family, Raymond Basil Snider, 87, of Mishawaka, IN, went home to Heaven, March 19, 2024, following an illness that he met with peace and courage.
Funeral services will be April 1, at noon at Southside General Baptist Church, 1615 S. Spring Street in Mishawaka, IN. Visitation will be 11:00 a.n. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.
Basil was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Carol Joan (Sulser); his parents, Rev. Anthony and Della (Grubb) Snider; brothers, Leonard and Don Snider; and sister, Jerlene Lockridge.
Basil was born in 1936 in McComas, WV. He served in the US Marine Corps and worked many jobs from his youth until his retirement in 2005 from Conn-Selmer, where he was a supervisor. Basil was a staunch Christian, a talented woodworker, avid reader, generous cook/baker, thoughtful friend, helpful neighbor, faithful member of Southside General Baptist Church, and a beloved family member whose corny jokes, oft-told stories, and frequent laughter will be missed.
Preserving his memory are his children, Karen Geisler and Rob (Kim) Snider of Mishawaka, IN, and Ray (Shelli) Snider of Elkhart; grandchildren, Michael (Nancy) Geisler, Lacey (Justin) Iannarelli, Lindsey (Dan) Zimmerman, Gregory (Alyssa) Riffle, and Adam, Nathaniel, and Hannah Snider; great-grandchildren, Lorelai and Declan Zimmerman, Jackson Iannarelli, Reese Owen Lucas, and Topanga, Kiahna, Hadassah, and Thaddeus Riffle; siblings, Bill Snider and Darlene Hubbard; sisters-in-law, Judith Dillon and Nelda Nutter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are handled by Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, of Mishawaka, IN, where online tributes may be left. Memorial gifts may be made to Southside General Baptist Church.
