CHARLOTTESVILLE, V.A.- Ella Hamric recently competed in the Southeast Central Region 10 hoop shoot competition in Charlottesville, VA after winning the 8–9-year-old division West Virginia state title last month.
Hamric just narrowly missed what would have been an astounding accomplishment and finished in third place with 17 made shots. The winner made 19, so Hamric was just three makes away from winning and moving forward.
Still, getting to the regionals is a huge deal and the pressure she dealt with makes it even more impressive.
She was the first shooter in the entire gym and in her age group. All the other participants had been there before and had that experience that Hamric had not yet been a part of, until now.
Interestingly enough, with her score of 17 makes, she would have won the boys competition.
according to her father, Jon, “Ella is glad she has a few more years to compete in this competition.”
The WVDN would like to extend a big CONGRATULATIONS to Ella for her impressive run.
