JoAnn Simon, 73, of Beckley, WV, died Friday, July 27, 2018.
Born September 18, 1944, in Stanaford, WV, she was the daughter of Mary Cousins of Lanark, WV, and Carl L. Cousins.
She worked as a teacher’s aide and was a member of Welcome Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, William Simon; two stillborn brothers; brother, James Cousins; grandmother, Lucy Carey; brothers-in-law, Norman Powell and Phillip Lawler; and uncle, Kenneth Freeman.
In addition to her mother, those left to cherish precious memories are her husband of 50 years, Rudolph “Chucky” Simon; daughters, Veronica Simon Perry (Hugh), LaShima Nicole Murdock (Joe), both of Durham, NC, and Anne Benn of Philadelphia, PA; daughter-in-law, Angie Simon of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers, Larry Cousins of Beckley, Carl Cousins (Betty) of Mississippi, Eric Cousins (Suquita) of Georgia; sisters, Mary Alice Moore (Larry), Diana Bradley (Jerome) and Loretta Powell, all of Beckley, Teresa Logan (Russell) of Charleston, WV, and Tracy Cousins of Parkersburg, WV; sister-in-law, Jeri Lawler of Wake Forest, NC; aunt, Gloria Freeman of Beckley; special son, the Rev. Gregory E. Scott of White Sulphur Springs, WV; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 S. Kanawha Street, Beckley, with the Rev. Gregory E. Scott, the Rev. Mildred Best, the Rev. Courtney Wallace, Pastor Damon Hamby, Bishop David Allen, and Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
