Lawrence Gamilla Braye Jr., 60, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away of natural causes at his home on Thursday, August 2, 2018.
He was born March 27, 1958, in Ronceverte, WV, and was the son of Lawrence Braye Sr. and Victoria Coleman.
Lawrence was a member of the House of Prayer in White Sulphur Springs, WV. He had a dedicated career serving his country in the U. S. Army, completing two tours in the Persian Gulf War, and was a retired brick mason.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Braye was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Susie White; daughter, Natasha Young; sisters, Yvonne Standard and Joan Wilmer; and brothers, Karl Harris and Edward Harris.
Surviving are his daughter, Jaishia Clemmons and husband, Curtis, of Buchanan, VA; son, Lawrence G. Braye III and wife, Nicole, of Tallahassee, FL; companion, Brenda Wilkeson; grandchildren, Juanae Young and Gabrella Young of White Sulphur Springs, Victoria Braye and Gabriel Braye of Tallahassee, Johnathan Clemmons and Chase Clemmons of Buchanan; sister, Loretta English and husband, Lynwood, of Roanoke, VA; and brother, Andrew Harris and wife, Rose, of Huntington, WV.
Funeral services for Mr. Braye will be on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 1 p.m., at the House of Prayer, 807 Tuckahoe Road, White Sulphur Springs, with Pastor Yvettea Wilmer officiating.
The family will receive family and friends from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the church.
