FRANKFORD W.Va. (WVDN) – The Ladies of the Henning Church of God held their regular monthly meeting, on Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the church fellowship hall. Carole Spencer presided and Michelle Carpenter led in prayer. The group released the following report:
“Carole Spencer presented the devotion, ‘The Valentine Gift,’ to Christ with scripture reference Matthew 25:35-40. The author prayed in the pre-dawn hours before work and ended up dancing in the bathroom after praying. She wore a red blouse as she left for work and said goodbye to her cat named Critter. Christ is the greatest love of her life so she wanted to give him a gift during the day. She was very busy at work, however, her co-worker’s dog had passed away. She sent her words of sympathy and was going to bake her a cake that night. Her other co-worker was sick and she shared her homemade vegetable soup with her. Another co-worker played piano and she complimented her playing. She got home and realized that she had not presented Christ with a Valentine’s gift. No one ever knows how insignificant acts on earth will be valued until reaching heaven. Valentine’s Day is not just for couples. Let Christ be first in your life and love can be shown any day. (Matthew 22:37-40)
“Kim Brookman gave the missionary education report focusing on Paul and Kattia Jones from Bolivia. There have been massive fires in Chile that have taken lives and homes there. The Church of God in the area has contributed water, food, and living provisions for 40-50 families. Paul’s father was a Church of God Pastor. Paul’s duties mainly focus on teaching the Bible and ministerial duties. He does training for churches by having weekend camp meetings. He graduated from Moody Bible College in 1992 and was an associate pastor in Odessa, Texas. Kattia mainly serves children and women groups by having teaching conferences. She became a Christian at twelve years of age. She received a degree in English from The University of Costa Rica. They married in 1998 and became Global Strategy Career Missionaries to Bolivia in 2004. They were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary by visiting the Holy Land around October 7th last year but had to be redirected to other countries because of the conflict there. They still saw the ruins of Cypress, Ephesus, Athens, Corinth and Rome.
“Jamie Harvey gave the treasurer’s report and Pauline Perkins read last month’s minutes.
“The election for new officers will be next month. The group will be serving the Maxwelton Ruritans on Feb. 22. The group is discussing purchasing a building to house church items and vacation bible school supplies.
