Marie Anne McCullough Shifflett Carter

Marie Anne McCullough Shifflett Carter, 81, of Alderson, WV, passed away peacefully at the Peyton Hospice house on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Marie was born September 8, 1942, in Roanoke, VA.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Troy Carter; her mother, Madeline Montgomery; her stepfather, Harold Montgomery, Sr.; and brother, Harold “Eddie” Montgomery, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Frank Carter (Cindy) of Lawrenceburg, KY, James Carter (Rhonda) of Alderson, WV, Vickie Terry (Tim) of Alderson, WV, Billy Carter (Pam) of Ronceverte, WV, Bernard Carter (Stacey) of Clarksville, TN; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Lantz Funeral Home, 101 Davis Street, Alderson, WV, 24910, Friday, February 2nd, 2024, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be held at Lantz Funeral Home, 101 Davis Street, Alderson, WV 24910, Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Tim Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at the Adkins Cemetery, Flat Mountain, with family members serving as pallbearers.
