PRINCETON- It was a night to forget in Mercer County for the Greenbrier East Spartans on Wednesday evening, Jan. 24 as they suffered an 89-53 loss to the Princeton Tigers in what was billed as a key sectional matchup.

East could never get going and just did not have their mojo and sometimes, those things happen, unfortunately.

The Tigers scored 27 points in the second quarter, led 41-22 at halftime and then poured in another 27 points in the third that completely broke the game wide open.

The Spartans (4-9) were called for four technical fouls on the night.

Nik Fleming led the Tigers with 20 points, including 14 of those in the third quarter when he went 6-for-6 from the field.

For the Spartans, Gabe Patton led the way with 12 points. Jakob Tomlinson scored 10 points and was named the Magic’s Computer Repair player of the game.

Fleming scored 20 for Princeton and Koen Sartin chipped in 16.

East head coach Jared Patton will want to quickly put this game sheet in the trash and move forward.

Up next for the Spartans is another tough game against South Charleston this Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM at Spartan Gym. South Charleston beat East back in late December.
