LEWISBURG- The snow on the ground and frigid temperatures doesn’t exactly bring about visions of fly balls, bunts and strikeouts. But spring is coming fast, and with it comes baseball.
Central Greenbrier Little League is preparing for the 2024 spring season, and registration began last week.
“We know this snow is going to melt away soon and it will be baseball season again,” said CGLL Board Member Cam Huffman. “We’re preparing to make sure everything is in place to make this season the best one yet.”
Central Greenbrier Little League now includes the communities of Ronceverte, Lewisburg, White Sulphur Springs, Alderson, Frankford and more. The league sponsors play at T-ball, coach pitch, minor league, major league, junior league and senior league divisions, creating opportunities for players from 4-16 years of age. It keeps fields in playing shape throughout the league boundaries to accommodate a large number of games.
“We are blessed with fantastic fields and amazing volunteers that make this league special for the athletes involved,” said Huffman. “It’s truly a wonderful experience for players of all ability levels. We’re hoping to see as many players as possible register to be a part of it.”
Assessments are scheduled to take place on March 16. They help determine the proper level of play for the athletes as well as organizing fair and competitive teams. Opening Day tentatively scheduled for April 12.
