CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – Mary Ann Claytor, a veteran of the West Virginia State Auditor’s office with over two decades of experience, officially filed her candidacy today to run for West Virginia State Auditor in the 2024 election. Surrounded by supporters at the Secretary of State’s office in Charleston, Claytor is set to bring a new wave of accountability and transparency to the office.

With her extensive experience as a freelance auditor and her advocacy for government transparency, Claytor is uniquely positioned to lead the State Auditor’s office into a new era of efficiency and public service. “It’s time to leverage my experience in the Auditor’s office to ensure it works effectively for every West Virginian,” said Claytor.

The Audit the State initiative is at the heart of Claytor’s campaign, proposing the use of advanced auditing practices and technology to address the needs of citizens. Emphasizing data analytics and public reporting, the initiative promises to enhance the transparency and effectiveness of state government operations.

“This campaign is about moving forward, about innovating and improving how our state manages its resources and serves its people,” stated Claytor. “We are focused on the future, committed to bringing tangible improvements to our state’s auditing processes.”

In previous campaigns, Claytor gained valuable insights into the concerns and aspirations of West Virginians. These experiences have informed her current platform, which emphasizes responsive governance and proactive fiscal management.

The West Virginia State Auditor election is scheduled for November 5, 2024. As the campaign progresses, Claytor is dedicated to engaging with communities across the state, sharing her vision for an accountable, transparent, and forward-looking Auditor’s office.
