A Greenbrier County husband and wife team have opened Jessie’s Market in Alderson

ALDERSON W.Va. (WVDN) – Only a month old, Darren and Jessie Hannah asked themselves what Alderson needed the most when they decided to open a business. Spot on, the market is a hit providing fresh choices in deli meats, Amish cheeses and salads, sandwiches galore made with delectable meats and Flavor Mutt’s delicious breads, homemade cheese balls, charcuterie, party trays and more. Fresh seasonal produce is also available, and more will come next summer. A market bag is a neat deal, with handpicked items, prepackaged and filled with milk, produce, bread or other goodies.

Jessie Hannah spent 22 years in the healthcare field and her husband is an Alderson police officer, so caring for people is in their blood. Offering only the freshest choices, sourced locally and supporting other small businesses while creating scrumptious food, is the goal. Jessie’s heart lies in caring for the elderly and offers delivery services (within town limits) to those who may be shut-in, unable to drive or who are differently-abled. If you are in need of delivery due to circumstances such as these, just call the market and they will be glad to help. The couple is also making beautiful party trays or charcuterie for the holidays with your choice of fine deli meats and cheeses or vegetables and are available daily. The sandwiches, paninis, and hoagies stand alone, piled high and are made to order. She also sells her own soups and baked goods and has a local supplier who stocks the market with fresh baked breads such as banana nut, lemon blueberry or cranberry.

Jessie Hannah mentions The Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation’s help with the U.S. Department of Agriculture funded Microloan program in helping them start the business. She credits the organization with superior service and care in helping West Virginians like them get their businesses up and running.

“It isn’t easy, and the help they gave us really made all the difference,” said Jessie Hannah.

To order from the market, simply call 304-445-4003 or stop in to say hi and welcome them at 147 Davis St., Alderson. The business hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Follow them on Facebook and jessiesmarket.com to see daily specials and offerings.
