FAIRLEA W.Va. (WVDN) – Editor’s Note: Two students from the Sea Dragons swim team provided the following report from the team’s recent meet.
On Dec. 9, the Sea Dragons hosted the Allegheny Highlands YMCA Dolphins and the Chief Logan Stringrays.
It was the largest meet so far with 64 swimmers participating.
The Sea Dragons had 67 personal best times and 30 new team records. The most improved swimmer was Keith Benedict, who dropped over 33 seconds in his events. The swimmers who set new individual team records in their competition categories were Emil Applegate (50 Yard Backstroke), Ella Butler (50 Yard Free, 50 Yard Fly, 100 Yard Breast, and 200 Yard IM), Juliet Cooke (25 Yard Fly), Emily Hobbs (50 Yard Backstroke, 50 Yard Free, and 500 Yard Free), Zoey Hobbs (25 Yard Free), Avery Hodges-McGuffin (50 Fly), Cooper Homer (50 Yard Free, 200 Yard Free, and 100 Yard Fly), Ben Kelso (100 Yard Breast), Solomon Rodebaugh (25 Yard Backstroke, 25 Yard Free, 50 Yard Backstroke, and 50 Yard Free), Luke Taylor (50 Yard Free, 100 Yard Free, 50 Yard Breast, 100 Yard Breast), and Marley White (100 Yard Free). The 200 Yard Freestyle relay team of Ella Butler, Cooper Homer, Ben Kelso, and Marley White set a new team record in that event.
Everyone who participated in this swim meet did an amazing job. We are extremely proud of the hard work that the swimmers have been putting in to make these swim meets successful. They are over-achievers!
The Sea Dragons will be attending the Mountain State Storm Winter Invite on Jan. 7, 2024, in Bridgeport, Harrison County, West Virginia.
