CHARMCO- Ever since a shocking season opening 72-38 loss to James Monroe, the Class a 6th ranked Greenbrier West Lady Cavaliers have gone on a nice, quiet 3-game win streak with wins over River View (80-49), Richwood (73-26), and Pocahontas County (56-31).
West has stepped up their defense since that first game to the Mavs, but their offense is running smooth as well. Junior all-stater Preslee Treadway has averaged 32 points per game during the streak and is at 27 ppg for the season. Point guard Brilee Redden, a sophomore who stepped into her role and replaced Ava Barclay, has been good with the ball and scores 8.2 points per game.
Maddie Fields, another key player from last season’s state tournament team is scoring at a 12 ppg clip, with Abigail Thomas contributing 7.5 points early on this year.
West has a tough game with Oak Hill on Wednesday night, Dec. 13 and will then head to Shady Spring on Monday the 18th to face what should be a good Lady Tigers squad.
Greenbrier West sits at 3-1 currently.
