GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – Thanks to the tremendous support of our community, The West Virginia Daily News Canned Food Drive has been a success! We are pleased that all the donated items have now been delivered to area food banks.
Our first stop on Tuesday morning was the Lewisburg Fairlea Food Locker at Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg, where we were greeted by Bill Martin. The Food Locker distributes on the third Saturday of each month from 8 to 10 a.m. Anyone wishing to make a food donation may call 304-645-7842. If you would like to make a monetary donation you can mail it to Lewisburg Fairlea Food Locker 644 Church St., Lewisburg, WV 24901.
Another food pantry that received the donated canned food items was The White Sulphur Springs Pentecostal Food Bank. Their food bank distribution is on the second Saturday, monthly at 9 a.m., however, in December, the food distribution will be on the third Saturday, Dec. 16 rather than Dec. 9 due to Christmas. They are located on Ingleside Avenue in White Sulphur Springs. If you would like to make a donation contact, Pastor Gene Sizemore.
We also dropped off donated canned food items at the Ronceverte Food Pantry. Their distribution is on the second and fourth Saturday of every month at the back entrance of the Clifford Community Center from 9 to 10:30 a.m. I spoke with Jeff Cherry representing the food pantry he stated “We will be moving to our new location in January.” The current location has no heat which makes it very challenging for the volunteers. Their new location will be in the old hospital building in Ronceverte.
I would like to give a special thank you to Ronceverte Baptist Church BYF and the staff of The West Virginia Daily News for all their hard work. We are so grateful to our friends and neighbors for their generosity this holiday season, and we couldn’t be more proud to serve this wonderful community.
Merry Christmas from our families to yours!
