The Eastern Greenbrier Lady Knights volleyball team won the Dig Pink tournament this past Saturday, Oct. 21 when they defeated back-to-back champions and one of their biggest rivals, the Park Road Runners. After splitting the first two sets, the Knights won the third one and claimed their title in impressive fashion.
“The outcome was in our favor this year,” EGMS coach Dawn McClure said.
“It was a great and exciting win,” she added.
For the third straight year the Knights matched up with Park in the championship game, and this time, took care of business.
“They (Park) have been the team to beat the last couple seasons and as we struggled with them during regular season matches, everything fell right into play at the right time,” McClure explained.
EGMS had played 10 sets before meeting Park, but they never laid down and mustered up enough energy to get the memorable and clutch victory.
“It was a long day of volleyball,” McClure concluded.
