Lady Spartans XC Team Finishes 2nd at Spartan Invitational, James Monroe 3rd

FAIRLEA, WV- The Greenbrier East boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams hosted a meet called the Spartan Invitational this past Saturday, Sept. 30. The free parking lot at the state fairgrounds drew hundreds of spectators as runners braved the fog and the long course that ended on the track at Spartan Stadium. The girls team placed second behind Alleghany in the final team scores and East’s Neena McClintic placed second overall individually. The East boys took home fifth place as Jackson Carter was their top finisher in the sixth spot.

The James Monroe girls’ and boys’ continued to show out as well. The girls had four top-18 finishers in Katie Collins (6th), Kynzie Taylor (11th), Abby Dixon (12th), and Gracie Tooze (18th), and finished third in the team scores. Greenbrier West’s top runner was Larissa Wickline who finished 28th. The Maverick boys’ team was paced by Wyatt Lilly (19th place).
