Carter Dewey Rogers, 70, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018, at the Beckley VA Medical Center.
Carter was born January 10, 1948, in covington, VA, and was the son of Dewey amd Martha J. Rogers.
Carter was a member of Wild Meadow Baptist church, where he had been a youth pastor and Sunday school teacher. He was an Army veteran and was a shop steward and night houseman at the Greenbrier Resort.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Hoke Jr.; sisters, Jane Hartley, Ruth Allen, Nora Knapp, Margaret Dove, and his twin sister, Claudine Knapp; and brothers, Henry Cox and Charles Cox.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon Ann Dean Rogers; son, Carter Dewey Rogers Jr. and his wife, Christina, of White Sulphur Springs; daughter, Denise Feury and her husband, Sammy, of Covington, VA; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hoke of Waynesboro, VA; brothers Myles Cox of White Sulphur Springs, and Lloyd Cox of Alvon, WV; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Wild Meadow Baptist Church, with Pastor Roger McDaniel and Pastor Lowell O’Dell officiating, with military graveside rites to follow at Mapledale Cemetery.
The family will receive their relatives and friends on Friday, January 19, 2018, from 6-8 p.m.at the Wild Meadow Baptist Church.
