Mary Catherine Hall (Vandervort)
Mary Catherine Hall (Vandervort), 94, of Frankford, WV, departed this earth on July 29, 2023, at the Seneca Trail Healthcare in Fairlea, WV.
She was formerly from Prince Frederick, MD. Born November 4, 1928, in Renick, WV, to the late Dr. Madison King and Willie Ann Boggs Vandervort. She was the oldest girl of seven children and last surviving; Marvin, Austin, June, Donald, Nina Blumberg, and Helen Callison all preceded her in death.
She was married in 1955 to the late Thomas Hutchins Hall Sr. of Prince Frederick, MD.
She worked at The Greenbrier Hotel as a telephone operator in White Sulphur Springs, WV, then for C & P in Baltimore, then retired from the A & P Grocery Store, in Glen Burnie, MD, in 1984. She was a very hard working woman, devoted to her family. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and canning food from her garden. She loved to entertain holidays with her family. She loved her many pets over the years, especially Teddy.
She had five children, Vicki Whitt of Lewisburg, WV, Jerry Hoover (his wife, Paula) of Frankford WV, Mary Catherine Bloom of Severn, MD, Thomas Hutchins Hall, and Cynthia Marlene Shields and her husband, Hal L. Shields, from Frankford WV; nine grandchildren, Pamela Ooten, Annie Hoover DeMoss, Heather Whitt, Tammy Whitt Barrett, Jason Booker, Joseph Thomas Bloom, Marvin Edward Bloom, Catherine V. Prola, Sarah Marie Bloom; 18 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Hall will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the residence (189 Buchannan St., Frankford, WV 24938).
