GREENBRIER COUNTY (WVDN) – Three pioneering swimmers from the newly minted Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center swim team competed in the West Virginia Swimming long course state championship meet held July 7 through July 9 in Morgantown. Over 200 swimmers participated in the event. Karissa Griffith competed in the 50 backstroke, 50 freestyle, and 50 breaststroke, Emily Hobbs competed in the 50 freestyle, and Zoey Hobbs earned a bronze medal in the 50 backstroke. Each of the three Sea Dragons achieved significant personal best times in all their races and shed 31.04 seconds from their previous times as a collective.
This marks the first time that residents of Greenbrier County have had the chance to compete in USA Swimming in over 20 years. Karissa, Emily, and Zoey are the first of many swimmers from the Sea Dragons who will have the chance to swim competitively at the local, state and national levels.
