GREENBRIER COUNTY (WVDN) – Do you work with young children? Do you want to earn more money and college credit? Would you like to improve your childcare skills? If so, register to become a certified child development specialist through ACDS. Registration for the WV Apprenticeship for Child Development Specialist (ACDS) is open now through August 4, 2023. Greenbrier County will be starting a new group for Semester 1 and Semester 3 this fall.
ACDS partners with the US Department of Labor, River Valley Child Development Services (RVCDS) and early childcare programs throughout WV. The goal of ACDS is to help educate those who serve children from birth through 12 years of age on how to care for and support these youth. ACDS is a four-semester program with weekly classes for 15 weeks. Students must be employed in the early childhood education field and work directly with children for a minimum of 20 hours a week. ACDS students are childcare providers, in-home providers, teachers’ aides, and those who work in the childcare field.
