RENICK (WVDN) – The Renick Freedom Festival was held on Saturday, June 24 at the community park. Energy Express members and volunteers from the Frankford Elementary School site were on hand to aid with the festivities. They helped with the set-up process before the event began and then provided supervision of the bouncy house, teddy bear parade, and two craft areas.
The festival provided a relaxing atmosphere for people of all ages to enjoy good food, free live music performances, free activities for children to participate in, a parade, horseshoe and corn hole tournaments, and a stunning fireworks display. Karla Workman, Site Supervisor for the Frankford Elementary Energy Express site, said, “Our members always have a great time working the Renick Freedom Festival. Families and friends are able to have a great time together in a fun environment with little to no cost.”
Energy Express has been in operation for over 25 years. The program’s major goal is to unite community members and children to make summer a time for food, fun, and learning. Energy Express receives funding from the WVU Extension Service, Volunteer WV – The State’s Commission for National and Community Service, the Summer Food Service Program through the West Virginia Department of Education, and other local contributors.
