RONCEVERTE, W.Va. (WVDN) – A new business in Ronceverte, Primitive Goods WV, is providing the community with a wide selection of vintage and locally produced items. From dishes to furniture, handmade soap to coffee, this shop has something to suit almost any need.

According to the owners, the idea for the store came when they moved to the area and faced difficulty finding some of the things they were used to buying. They said, “When we moved to the area, we found that we couldn’t find most of the items that we were used to buying without ordering them online or going to another city. We want to help bridge that gap.”

Building a new business comes with many ups and downs, but there is always a moment that stands out when looking back. For the owners of Primitive Goods WV, one of the best experiences includes friends. They said, “We love when a bunch of our friends show up and pull up stools and have some coffee and chat for a while.”

Community is crucial to Primitive Goods WV. The owners stated, “We are here to provide a service to the community. We want to help our local farmers and artisans have a reliable way to get their products into the market. There is so much talent and resourcefulness in this community. It deserves recognition.”

There are many different products available in the store. Beautiful Blue Willow dishes, incredible vintage Singer Sewing Machines and primitive writing desks are only a few things you might find in Primitive Goods WV. Not to mention the locally made quilts, Ronceverte-centric items, homemade sweet treats, locally made jams and an incredible coffee selection. When considering a favorite product, the owners said it was a difficult choice.

“That is very hard to answer because we love everything, but my favorite retail item is our Antique Candle Co. candles. We were a fan of theirs before we opened the store, so when we found out that we could carry them in the store, we were thrilled.”

The future is bright and full of possibilities for Primitive Goods WV. The owners noted that they are “continuously adding new products.” They also noted, “We really want to support better baking with tons of non-GMO products. That will be happening within the next few weeks.”

They also said, “We will also be working with other business owners in the community this fall to offer sourdough, quilting and canning classes. We see a future where Ronceverte has a farmers market, a community garden and, hopefully, a vintage market. There is lots of work to be done, but Ronceverte is wonderful because everyone works so well together.”

The store is open Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. The owners said they are considering adding more open days in the future. Stay up to date on any changes to the operating hours and new products by visiting the Facebook Page at Primitive Goods WV.
