UNION, W.Va. (WVDN) –
The Monroe County Commission recently received a Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund Grant award for the nonprofit organizations of the county.
This grant is strictly for nonprofit organizations, including but not limited to religious, charitable, scientific and educational organizations.
There will be two rounds of grant funding. Each round of funding will have $67,764.10 available. The first round of applications must be postmarked by Tuesday, June 20, or hand delivered to the county commission at 350 Main Street in Union by 4:30 p.m.
Grant applicants must:
• Be a registered 501(c)(3) organization through the Internal Revenue Service.
• Be an organization located in the county of Monroe.
• Fundraising and/or tithing has been impacted by the COVID-19 epidemic.
• Possess a DUNS Number or UEID (Unique Entity ID).
Below are examples as to what awarded grant funds may be used for:
• Building Maintenance – Upkeep of the building and or facilities housing the organization. There is no limit to what maintenance this can include.
• Economic development – Focus is on innovative, nontraditional economic development activities.
• Activities (cultural, recreational, social and educational) – Special emphasis is placed on activities that bring people together throughout the county, and that bring people into the county.
• Utilize and support existing organizations, resources, services and facilities that contribute to quality of life – includes projects to more effectively market or make services and programs more fully available to people.
These are simply examples of what awarded grant funds could be used for.
The Monroe County Commission will review all applications and award funding on a special meeting to be held on June 30 at 9 a.m.
