LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) – The Greenbrier East JROTC program had a very busy 2022-23 school year. One of the highlights was the Veterans Day ceremony. They also competed in many drill, raider and air rifle competitions.

The Greenbrier East JROTC air rifle team also had another very productive year, including winning another state championship against the 14 schools that qualified. They competed with many JROTC teams from West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. The team also travelled to Camp Perry, Ohio, to compete in another national championship match.

The staff and students would like to express their gratitude for the support of school and county leadership with special recognition to the residents of Greenbrier County — without their support none of the current cocurricular and extracurricular activities would be possible.

“Our county and local citizens should be proud of the accomplishments and recognition Greenbrier East High School JROTC has received through its many programs. Participation in programs like this aligns with the JROTC mission ‘to motivate young people to be better citizens,’” said Greenbrier East JROTC instructor Lefty W. Smith.
